Coach Ibbo as he’s known by his players has been instrumental in developing youth rugby programs in Southern California. He’s coached the San Clemente Gators U12-U16 programs for 8 seasons before taking that talent and starting the Dana Hills High School program.

Ibbo led the Dana Squad to the final their first season and into the playoffs last year. In addition to his duties at USC he will remain on the Dana HS team’s Board of Directors and assist when available.

Congrats Ibbo! We’re proud of you.

Dana Sr. Anton Grigoriou has had quite a year. As a Junior Anton represented the United States National Team as starting Flyhalf for the squad. The HSAA Team traveled to France and Belgium  where they came away with a huge victory against the Belgium side. Anton scored 17 points in the match.

Additionally, our Flyhalf later made the Southern California Griffins (All Star Select Team for Southern California) leading that squad against the Western united States teams in the tournament.

Look for Anton to be a driving force for Dana’s third season as a High School Club Team.

1st Season Results – League Finalists!

The Kids are Alright….

The inaugural season for the Dana Rugby Football Club (DRFC) exceeded all expectations. After a two year effort to establish the Dana Hills High Club team, AKA DRFC made an impressive run winning their league undefeated. That success continued into the playoffs where they won two rounds including a team from a more experienced division. They met the Mira Costa High School team for the final match for their division. The Dana squad fought against a much bigger side and carried a lead into the second half. Alas, the Mira Costa side overpowered the Dana team to secure the championship.

The Dana Rugby program is firmly on the map with plans to build a stronger team for the 2014-2015 season. Last years captain and Sr. Drew Falk will be returning along with Gabe Wahl, Anton Grigoriou (who is headed to the All-American Camp) Jaxon Breckenridge, and Eddie Wood, among others.
Look for more great things coming from the boys down in Dana Point, CA.
